Annika Wester's work presents a various number of characters, silhouettes andi tems displayed throughout her own stylish way of drawing. The features are softened and the colors often bright, which gives the viewer a feeling of joyful indolence ; even so when only shown in a landscape. She likes making black and white images and in these the cool of the subject remains and is enhanced by the sharp contrast. On the other hand this simplicity is somehow balanced on some pictures where, for example a serie of detailed make up accessories are gathered on a plain background. Therefore she builds up figures, in a contemporary baroque way with truly styled look ; among just a few contextual elements, such as haussmanian buildings or parts of nature, merely contributing to the atmosphere that is released. Annika Wester was born in Sweden and now lives in Paris.
